Suede and Leather

Here at Glow Dry Cleaners, we know that getting leather garments cleaned isn’t always something our customers think of doing. But any leather specialist will tell you, taking your leather items to a dry cleaner is the best way to ensure a thorough clean in the safest way possible.

The natural oils in suedes and leathers can affect the quality of the texture over time if it’s not properly cared for, so cleaning leather garments on a regular basis will help preserve and protect the material, which means it is less likely to need any major treatment in the future. Proper cleaning of materials such as natural skins requires specialist knowledge to ensure your garments look the best they can be.

We take extremely careful measures to maintain the original state of your garments during cleaning, but because leather is a natural product we’d like to let you know that some changes may occur due to the nature of the cleaning process. Examples of reasons for this might be:

  • Some colours used in leather are soluble and may be removed to a degree during cleaning. Some colour change may occur.

  • Some oils which are present in the leather for suppleness are lost in dry-cleaning, and although we will replace the oils, there may be some change in the feel of the garment.

That being said, rest assured we have a highly trained suede and leather cleaning team who will work diligently to ensure your treasured leather garments are returned to you as close to the original appearance as humanly possible.

Because this is such a specialist service, please be aware that minimum turnaround time is 2 weeks.

If you require re-waxing of your leather items, this is a service we can provide.
